Our Students & Curriculum
English Language Learners who graduate with both a Chinese and a BC diploma.
The quality of our students is exceptional. All are English Language Learners, and they graduate with both a Chinese diploma and a British Columbia diploma. Most go on to universities in Canada, while some choose other English-speaking countries.
As English Language Learners, students make extensive gains in their English from Grade 10 to 12. All CSEEC schools are student-focused and fully embrace the redesigned British Columbia curriculum.
- Our schools are housed within the campuses of large Chinese public schools. Each enrolls 100 to 180 students in Grades 10 to 12 and teaches the BC curriculum certified by the BC Ministry of Education.
- Students are Chinese nationals who have studied English since primary school. They take ELL classes alongside the BC Graduation Program. Core courses include English, Social Studies, Math, Sciences, Career Education and Information Technology, plus electives.
- Students are focused on their academic goals and have great respect for teachers. Most aim to attend a university in BC or elsewhere in Canada after graduation.
Schools run from September to early July on a two-semester system. Holidays include a National Day week in October and three weeks for Chinese New Year in January/February.
